Public Review – Ozone and PM 2.5 Air Quality Conformity Determination

SCRCOG falls within the Connecticut portion of the New York- Northern New Jersey- Long Island Ozone Non-Attainment Area and the PM 2.5 Attainment-Maintenance Area. “Conformity” is a requirement of the Federal Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) Section 176(c) (42 U.S.C.7506(c)) and EPA conformity regulations (40 CFR 93 Subpart A). MPOs are required to demonstrate that the MTP and TIPs are consistent with air quality goals and that progress is being made towards achieving and maintaining Federal air quality standards.

The air quality emissions analysis has been completed by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The report can be reviewed by clicking here. A 45-day review and comment period begins on February 1, 2023.
