The boundary shapefiles represented here are Census Defined Urban Areas based on the 2020 Census, as provided to SCRCOG by CTDOT’s Travel Demand and Air Quality Modeling team, adjusted for the purposes of accounting for federal aid. These represent large-scale urbanized areas as defined under the 2020 Census. More information on the definition of urban and rural areas can be found here.
