Meriden, CT - Zoning Enforcement Officer
Full Time – 40 Hour Work Week
This is responsible technical and professional work involving the interpretation and enforcement of land use regulations. Work involves responsibility for review, interpretation, and enforcement of zoning and subdivision regulations. Duties include review of building, zoning, and subdivision applications for compliance with the appropriate regulations, inspection of premises, investigation of complaints, preparation of enforcement documentation and coordination of enforcement activities. This position also has the responsibility for making standard zoning enforcement technical decisions. The work requires that the employee have considerable knowledge, skill and ability in every of zoning enforcement inspection and administration.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in urban planning, public administration, or a related field plus two (2) years of progressively responsible relevant experience in municipal planning and/or zoning enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license.
Must be certified as a Zoning Enforcement Officer by the Connecticut Association of Zoning Enforcement Officers (CAZEO), or be capable of achieving certification within one year of employment.
Rate of Pay: $76,918.40 – $87,089.60

North Branford, CT - Town Planner
Full Time
Performs technical and administrative work providing information, organizes and coordinates programs and decisions that shape both the short-range and long-term plans of the Town of North Branford. Work involves ensuring compliance with conditions imposed on new subdivisions, makes recommendations on zoning and subdivision issues before the Town, and proposes amendments to the Town’s zoning regulations, inland wetlands and subdivision rules and regulations. Provides technical assistance to town departments, committees, and boards in planning matters with respect to the development, coordination, and facilitation of programs relating to the physical and economic development of the Town.
Position requires extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas that can be used to develop policies and procedures as well as determining efficient and innovative ways to accomplish the organization’s business strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in planning, urban studies or related field; supplemented by five (5) years of directly related experience in regulation enforcement and/or municipal planning; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
Per Connecticut Statute, must have or obtain within two (2) years of employment, certification as a Certified Zoning Enforcement Officer from the Connecticut Association of Zoning Enforcement Officers
Certification as a Wetlands Official from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Connecticut Driver’s License and the ability to drive a Town-owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in urban planning and five (5) years as a Town Planner in a similar municipality and certification from American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); Flood Plain Manager Certification from FEMA

Woodbridge - Economic Development Manager (Part-Time)
Reports to: First Selectman, with coordination through the Economic Development Commission
Status: Part-time, non-exempt, approximately 20-25 hours per week
Term: Two-Year initial appointment, renewable based on project milestones

Position Summary:
The Economic Development Director plans, coordinates, and implements the Amity Business District initiative – a hybrid streetscape, placemaking, and economic development effort to: (1) deliver the LOTCIP-funded connectivity infrastructure on schedule and budget; (2) advance the Town’s place-based ecosystem strategy for attracting new businesses including bioscience graduation tenants and compatible advanced manufacturing and healthcare users; and (3) maintain the active trust of the Woodbridge residents, business owners, and property owners. The Director serves as the single accountable point of contact across the workstreams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, economic development, business, civil engineering, real estate, or related field. Masters {MPA, MURP, MBA, MS-ED} preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, planning, capital project management, or real-estate development. Connecticut municipal or regional planning experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing a multi-stakeholder project from concept through implementation.
- Valid driver’s license; availability for evening meetings, occasional weekend events, and site visits
Preferred Qualifications
- Active membership in CEDAS, IEDC, APA-CT, NADO, or BioCT
- Direct experience with LOTCIP or comparable state-funded local infrastructure programs
- Experience in business retention and expansion initiatives
- Prior involvement in a life-sciences, advanced manufacturing, or innovation-district initiative
