The Transportation Committee is comprised of six chief elected officials. This committee recommends key transportation planning and programming proposals for adoption by the SCRCOG Board. The committee meetings allow a more intensive review of proposals than possible at the monthly SCRCOG Board meetings. The Transportation Technical Committee Members are appointed by their chief elected officials. These fifteen members are comprised of municipal engineers or planners. The Transportation Technical Committee meets jointly with the Transportation Committee to allow the elected officials on the Transportation Committee to interact with SCRCOG staff, State personnel, transit operators, and other interested persons to make more informed recommendations to the SCRCOG Board. These meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month, are open to the public and informal to encourage public participation.

The SCRCOG Executive Committee meets, when necessary, before the scheduled Board meeting.

The SCRCOG Board is comprised of fifteen members, one mayor or first selectman from each municipality. The Board meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. except for November when it meets on the third Wednesday and December when the meeting is held on the second Thursday of the month. These meetings are open to the public.

The South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) coordinates the Regional Planning Commission (RPC), which has representation from each of the municipalities in the Region. Responsibilities of the RPC include review of statutory referrals for which advisory comments are prepared and forwarded to applicable municipalities. Statutory Referrals may include amendments to Zoning Regulations, Subdivision Applications, and Municipal Plans of Conservation and Development.

The Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month and reviews the referrals based on inter-municipal and environmental impacts.
