Job Opening: Municipal Services Coordinator

The South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) seeks a qualified person for the following position.

Position: Municipal Services Coordinator

The Municipal Services Coordinator aids with Municipal Services programming offered by the South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) to its member municipalities. The position assists and supports the Director of Regional Planning & Municipal Services and Executive Director. The position assists with managing consultants selected to pursue specialized projects for the benefit of the Region’s municipalities. The Municipal Services Coordinator exercises considerable initiative, independent judgement, and problem-solving skills within assigned areas of responsibility, and is evaluated based on measurable results such as program outcomes, cost savings, and the quality of inter-municipal collaboration achieved. 

Specifically, the Municipal Services Coordinator coordinates and helps develop SCRCOG’s regional inter-municipal shared services and operations program which features initiatives in the areas of municipal grants and funding support, information technology/cybersecurity, regional purchasing and procurement, and solid waste, recycling and food waste diversion. Additional subject areas may be added depending upon municipal needs and funding availability.  

Applicants must possess strong written, verbal, conceptual, analytic, quantitative, and communication skills. In addition, they should be able to work effectively in a highly collaborative team setting and be a self-starter who can complete quality outputs within reasonably set deadlines.

To be considered, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in urban or regional planning, public administration, public policy, political science or a related field, and a minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience ideally in a municipal or municipal-related organization; or any equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.  

Salary of up to $61,500, commensurate with applicant’s experience and qualifications. This is a full-time salaried position at 35 hours/week and includes a generous benefits package.
