The South Central Regional Council of Governments (SCRCOG) seeks a qualified person for the following position.

Position: Municipal Services Coordinator or Director

Employment Classification: Full-Time Exempt (35 hrs/wk)

Location: SCRCOG Office

Closing Date: Monday, March 11, 2024 at 12PM local time, or until position is filled

As Municipal Services Coordinator or Director, under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the selected candidate will manage, coordinate, and develop SCRCOG’s regional inter-municipal shared services program which features Working Groups composed of officials, employees and volunteer commission members from SCRCOG’s fifteen municipalities covering topics such as purchasing, information technology/cybersecurity, affordable housing, grants writing and administration, economic development, urban forestry, solid waste and recycling, and energy conservation. The employee will work directly with any consultant(s) hired through SCRCOG to assist with these initiatives. The Municipal Services Coordinator or Director will help develop other programs to assist SCRCOG municipalities and will work with the Executive Director on a wide-range of related projects.

The ideal candidate will be innovative, creative, motivated, personable and reliable.

Applicants must possess strong written, verbal, conceptual, analytic, quantitative, and communication skills. In addition, they should be able to work effectively in a highly collaborative team setting and be a self-starter who can complete quality outputs within reasonably set deadlines.

To be considered, applicants must have a bachelors degree from an accredited university in public administration/ public policy, government or political science or another closely-related field. A master’s degree in Public administration or public policy would be a plus.

Applicants must have at least two years of relevant work experience in one or more of the following subject areas:

  • Inter-Municipal Shared Services
  • Municipal Operations, such as Finance, Grants, Purchasing, Public Works, Solid Waste & Recycling, and Community Development
  • General knowledge of Municipal, Regional, and State Government operations
  • Familiarity with government financial management, budgeting, and bookkeeping

Applicants should have the following technical skills:

  • Facility with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook Calendar
  • Experience with Basecamp or other collaboration program and teleconferencing platforms such as Zoom

Salary will be commensurate with applicant’s experience and qualifications (subject to approval of SCRCOG Board). Health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance benefits are available with employee contribution. Participation in a retirement plan is also available after a 90-day waiting period.
